Decide on content.
Decide whether you or your web developer will be providing
the content for your new project. If you are providing
the content, make sure you perform a spell check before
sending it to the developer. Make sure you use a common
program like Microsoft Word or notepad so that your
web- developer doesn't have to convert the text.
Transferring documents.
Big emails sometimes are difficult to handle by the
restrictions of the email carrier. At Neteffects1 we
have taken care of this in our Clients only area of
this website. We provide a way for our clients to upload
their content.
Quality of graphics.
Pictures are a common graphic tool used in today's
websites. The preferred resolution is 72 dpi for the
internet and 300-600 dpi for printing. If your pictures
are in 'not so good shape' this may cause extra hours
for the graphic artist to bring those pictures up to
standards. Send your pictures by standard mail if possible
so that there is not any transfer damage.
Colors.
Colors on the internet are shown to you based on your
local computer system configurement. Know that colors
may show a little different on other computers. This
is unavoidable and should be considered when viewing
a new design.
Target your website market.
You are building a website for a specific goal in mind.
Remember when you build a website that you need to keep
the visitor in mind. What you like might not be what
the visitor likes. Consult with your designer in this
area, they are the experts.
Communication with the Designer.
Remember that most web designers are good at what they
do but they cannot read your mind. Send as many questions
and instructions as you need to get across your message.
Keep everything you talk about with your designer in
writing or just keep notes. This keeps everything running
smooth.
Who knows best?
If you have chosen the right design company then in
most cases the website developer will have most of the
answers you might need. A real way to increase your
costs is to make constant changes to the development
process. Let your designer do what you hired them to
and make note of all the changes you would like and
submit them at or near the completion of the project.
This will provide a smooth design process and make you
a vital part of the design process.
If you use these guides to help yourself and your designer,
the project will run smoother, take less time, and cost
less than if you had not used this information. At neteffects1
we have a process in place that saves you time and money.
